The Neil Perry Roundup
July was one of those months where things you don’t plan to happen, happen. It was also a month of holidays for a lot of our members were away so one way or another it was a fairly quiet one for our book club. In spite of this we still had some beautiful contributions from Neil Perry’s The Food I Love. Each of us tended to focus on the ingredient, cooking a side dish or a soup which creates an essence. This seemed to truly be at the heart of the philosophy of Perry’s cooking and whilst we didn’t tackle some of the more complicated recipes in his book I still think we did a fair job of representing what this book is about.
Here is what was created in our kitchens in July:
Sadly for me I didn’t find more time to delve into this book deeper. I loved reading through it, and learnt a lot from the meat cooking section about roasting meat which has improved my results immensely in the kitchen, but I would’ve liked to have shared more with you all. I think this is a book that I will be revisiting in the future when I have a bit more time up my sleeve to do it properly. Did you enjoy the recipes that you shared, or read about from us, in July?
For now though its onwards to August’s challenge and deciding which cook book I’m going to challenge myself to for this month’s The Cookbook Guru. If you’re keen to join in or just find out what we are doing in August you can read about it here on our page.
Happy Cooking and Happy Reading from The Cookbook Guru’s.
