Catching Up on Nominations from August’s The Cookbook Guru
In August The Cookbook Guru group went with something a little different. Instead of us all cooking from the same book for the month everyone was asked to cook from one (or more) of their favourite cookbooks that they would like to see make it onto our book list for 2015. The idea was to explore everyone’s book shelves and see what gems lay there for us all to discover in future months. The answer to this call was a beautiful mixture of books, many of them considered classics, that are sure to get our cooking muscles working as we delve back into old English Classics, Italian Baking and rediscover the birthplace of modern food.
Here is what made it into August:
Margaret Fulton’s Complete Margaret Fulton Cookbook
Paula Field’s The Food of Morocco
Rose Grey and Ruth Rogers’s The River Cafe Cookbook
Carol Field’s The Italian Baker
Maggie Beer’s Maggie’s Kitchen
Jane Grigson’s Vegetable Book
If you haven’t already read these posts, make sure you check them out as each member talks passionately about why this is one of their favourite books and why they would like us to delve deeper into it as a group. Is there any books that we didn’t quite get to cook from that we’d like to see on the list still?
If the idea of this book club facinates you and you’d like to join in then please don’t hesitate. You can find all the details of how it works here, and we welcome new participants with open arms. All you need is curiosity and courage in the kitchen and some time to explore the book of the month.
Happy Reading and Happy Cooking,
